LeadScorz, an AI-based marketing tool that analyzes digital sales leads, landed $5.6 million in a Series A round to fuel growth and boost hiring.

Veteran entrepreneur Pat Murphy launched the company in 2018. The Seattle startup features a patent-pending tech component that “grades” incoming sales leads from web pages and phone calls using criteria such as geography or other demographics. The company’s software integrates with CRM systems such as Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics.

LeadScorz sells its tech to large marketers in the insurance, mortgage, education, and household services, among other business-to-consumer companies. Demand is being driven by a decline in telesales and a rise in independent and distributed sales agent networks, Murphy told GeekWire in an email.

This trend is “in response to the general weariness of consumers being barraged by outbound calling, and their desire for more localized, more personal customer service at the time of their own choosing.”

Another tailwind, he said, is that most call center agents want to work from home.

There is a flock of companies building software in the call center realm using AI and machine learning. Seattle startup Seasalt.AI is targeting enterprise call centers, while established players like Google, Amazon and Microsoft also offer their own services. Other notable players include Deepgram, Five9, Avaya and 8×8.

LeadScorz previously raised $764,000 in a seed round in 2018. The 12-person company will use some of its fresh cash to double headcount.

Its total funding to-date is $8.15 million. Murphy declined to name investors in the Series A round, but said it includes a national provider of healthcare insurance products. Previous backers include Boise, Id.-based Capital Eleven.
